Steam will not start up?
I have tried starting up steam by double clicking on it, and starting it as a administrator. And it ether says it is updating steam client, or "Steam is already running in a different windows user session", but I am the only user on my PC. I have gone into settings, and unticked the comparability mode (I am in Windows 8) but still nothing?
They is a little Wight box in the left corner of the steam thumb nail, with a blue arrow in it? I think it means restart, but I have already done that. Any ideas? Spoiler:

RE: Steam will not start up?
I'm using Windows 8 and I've never experienced a problem like this with any of its games or steam itself.

RE: Steam will not start up?
I know you have windows 8, but if you have the regular windows feature installed, this is what you do. On the windows bar, all the way on the right there is usually a little arrow pointing up, your wifi bars, volume, battery, and time and date. Click the little arrow. There should be a few icons that pop up. Click the steam icon. A list of steam options will come up. Click "exit." This will completely shut down steam, because it is actually kind of always running in the background. Let it shut down (it might take a minute) and then re-open steam from the desktop shortcut/start menu. That should work.
(You can only do this if you have the regular windows thing installed for windows 8.) |
