It'll be released around 2015-2016 if this true, since Bethesda is currently working on TES:SO

RE: Fallout 4 development
When people say that Fallout is their favorite series, I often wondered if they played the first two or if they even know of the dramatic changes between the second and the third. I enjoyed the first two Fallouts but they were easily beaten by games like Diablo 2 and Final Fantasy- Fallout 3 was a post-apoco Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind for me, and that's how I continue to see it today. I like it, but I like the ES series better simply because they're what created its system. Hopefully it doesn't turn into a cash cow.

RE: Fallout 4 development
The problem with bethesda is that it's all copy paste.

Now dishonored was one hell of a change, You ever hear the phrase "Skyrim with guns."

That's not farcry, That's Fallout, But of course fallout 3 came out first.

The first fallouts were a normal overhead PC game really, Absolute shite compared to the ones we have now.

I'm sure the same goes for the elder scrolls.

I have played all the fallout games, didn't like 1 too much but 2 was a little bit more fun. I played diablo 2 more than fallout 1 & 2 though

RE: Fallout 4 development
Fallout 1/2 were actual RPG games. The new ones are just FPS with RPG stat systems. I almost beat 1, but something got fucked up and I was incapable of beating it. Played some two, think I stopped because I bought 3 or something. Never got around to tactics. (I have the fallout trilogy- 1,2, and tactics.)

RE: Fallout 4 development
Another thing is- the new story has no character continuity. Each game is standalone and nothing from the previous games amount to anything because they tend to retcon what has already happened. For example, the GECK, the core component of Fallout 3's plot, was supposed to be in California, not DC. The two games before it were centered on the West side of the continent. So what the hell? Fallout 3 was 100% retconned.

New Vegas was a step back in the right direction. Not too far from New Reno- but it leaves the Fallout storyline entirely. Not even bothering to mention the Vaults, the Brotherhood, Enclave, anything but the NCR, it focuses on a war against tribal savants. Oh fun let's make this a cowboys vs indians with some post apoco enemies.

All in all, I'm not exactly happy with the direction the story is going compared to the old games, where the main issues were the lives of everybody due to the wasteland, jet (which turned into a stupid gimmick), or the Enclave, which was just exterminated in a simple dialogue scene in Fallout 3.

Huh.

Maybe in this fallout 4 the map will be larger, And have different states in it.

Take the map in just cause 2 for example.

They pulled it off, And Bethesda can easily pull it off as well look (all their games are free roam, with large maps.)

Why are the voice actors always the ones to release information and not the actual devs?

Alright
they make the patches, not the fallout games.
Fallout 3 is the only game by BGS
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fallout_2
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fallout:_New_Vegas
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fallout_1

and by the looks of it, Obsidian will be the actual game dev.

More like an Oblivion.
Saying that the Elder Scrolls is better than Fallout simply because they were the first to have that kind of a leveling system is dumb.

I didn't say engine- I said system. The system that ES has built today combines the looting aspect from most RPG's and shooters and enriches it with an amazing crafting system, enchanting, and magic, etc. I feel as though this was wasted on Fallout. The whole post-apoco scene is all about having the bare minimum and they removed all aspects of FPS with the stupid-ass auto-aiming system. Why not use the fucking dwarf fortress engine if we're gonna do that? xD DF is far more interesting than Fallout in that area, not to mention it has more skills. x.x

In other words, I think that porting a Fallout game onto something that's used for a medieval fantasy setting and just changing the names around was a mistake. It's a broad view, but it's easily applied- welcome to Oblivion, only 2000 years in the future!

I never said engine. The skill system is the largest defining aspect of both TES and Fallout.
Now, VATS is optional, use it if you want. Fallout is an amazing franchise, and so is TES.

Oh, and Fallout is SO not Oblivion 2000 years into the future. More like 1000.. In another world. It's not comparable at all. The game mechanics are totally different (See Magic, Ranged, and Melee as opposed to Firearms, Explosives, and Melee, and you can't even rely more than 40% on explosives)
Totally different worlds, totally different lore, the only similar aspects are that both are open-world with a good looting system and an amazing skill system. Can't two games have certain similar aspects and still be good games, rather than one of them automatically being bad?
To be honest, Fallout is way more unique than TES. Just sayin', that whole fantasy thing is something you see a lot more than quality post-nuclear-war RPGs.
