Unfair Laws

So tonight, I joined the server while about 15 people were on. I found it a little strange that nobody was in front of the PD, but I just shrugged it off. I ran around for a minute or two, and then suddenly, I was wanted.

But what for? There were no law boards, just large wire signs saying who was the Mayor. Apparently, it's illegal to be outside any building. Not my house though, I have to be indoors as soon as possible. No chance to run to my house, or else I'm wanted, and either killed or arrested for a full 5 minutes. Including right after spawning.

Why would this law be fine RP whereas jaywalking is never an appropriate law to enforce? The Mayor can order a KOS on someone outside of a building, but he can't make someone wanted for jumping? I was extremely dissatisfied to find out that 2 other admins were allowing (and enforcing as CP) this shitty excuse of a law. Can someone please explain to me how this is at all okay?

Jaywalking has been forbidden, this can't be allowed. Because you would be stuck in spawn or the sewers.
Lockdown allowes them to clear the street temp but not permanent

It wasn't when I joined. Like I said, there were no law boards at all. The Mayor and one of the admins said they were "constantly Broadcasting and Adverting" but before I was wanted for being outside, I hadn't seen a single one. Only after about 30 minutes of complaining from other players was a lawboard placed up, and a while after that one was placed in front of spawn.

I was one of these cp's, and was allowing it because we allow hobo's to be banned to the sewers, how is banning everyone not a government official from being on the streets any different?

I agree the laws needed to be more visible however and that was dealt with.

Those laws are not valid anyway. We don't have a law system yet but it's kind of a unwritten rule that laws have to be physicaly visible ingame. This means not broadcast nor advert. Doing it once to tell a new law so someone doesn't need to walk all the time is fine but all the laws only visible through chat is hard to keep track on.

Within a few minutes, nowhere near the 30 frost claims, we did get the mayor to put up the laws and start using the lockdowns.

I still disagree over the law being unfair, why allow one class to be banned and not the rest?

Well because hobo has no RP purpose. But I agree, hence why I used to ban everyone underground.

Used a North Korean Nuclear Missile Threat as a base for the RP

It's good RP if the citizens are in imminent danger, yeah. We did awesome nuclear events ages ago where anyone above ground was contaminated and therefore KOS. But there was no threat to the citizens other than the CP being dicks, or saying "the ground is lava", because obviously lava respects people's private properties and totally won't flow into your house unless invited inside.

Its not our jobs to prevent laws because they aren't very good roleplay, we don't punish for bad roleplay unless it breaks our rules.

Our job is to ensure that everyone is having a fair RP experience, I really don't see how you could consider keeping everyone confined to their houses, bar the CP, an equal roleplay environment.

This happened all night. At least five times- through all the hours of me playing, reaching Level 2 Security Guard, the mayors were doing these 'no above-ground' lockdowns. They used it as excuses to break into warehouses and homes without warrants, to kill people on the streets, etc.

EDIT: The most-used excuse was 'nuclear threats from xxxx'. I don't understand why the mayor would, in roleplay, allow his CP to kill citizens if he was trying to save them from nuclear threat. I wonder if these were the same police that were meta-gaming an hour or two later.

I have seen laws simalar to this, and they are good when you have a mayor that can RP them well, but this sounds too much.

That's not our job. Our job is to enforce the server rules, we cannot and should not ever force roleplay on anyone unless they are doing something to violate those rules. We do not have any rules that say you roleplay this way or you will be in trouble. The mayor was not doing a great job, but its not our responsibility to tell our users how to roleplay unless they are breaking our rules.

The mayor banning people from the streets is just another kind of roleplay, that doesn't mean its not "fair" they can move underground if they want to avoid the law, or they can simply ignore it and dodge the cops.

I was their that night yes it went pretty downhill with the laws since their was no law board and nobody knew you were not allowed out unless you had been previously arrested or shot for it.
