RE: Solid State Hardrive
SSDs aren't even very useful especially with the price they are at now. The best thing one will give you is like a 2 second faster boot time. If you want to use one for games to get 1-2 fps more then you will need a huge one for all your games which would be really fucking expensive. Don't waste your money just get new parts or something

RE: Solid State Hardrive
All I want is a good size one for storing extra files, like videos from fraps and everything. I only got 20 GBs free on my internal.

And programs installed same. (01-26-2013 04:28 AM)Mattthezombie Wrote: All I want is a good size one for storing extra files, like videos from fraps and everything. RE: Solid State Hardrive
I don't think you need an SSD. In my honest opinion SSD's are overrated. If you want to store lots of data for a cheap price just get a HDD external hard drive. For a 500GB SSD you're looking to pay around 300-500$

lol
What burnacid means is that they are not made for storing a lot of big stuff on them, they are made for storing a few commonly used programs and your OS to make them boot faster. It really wasn't that hard to figure out what he meant. |

RE: Solid State Hardrive
what SSD's are used for in IT currently.
In a big fileserver or database server as X percent of the storage. It is the first storage used. Recent info is stored there or data that is used often. If data is not getting used for X days the data gets moved to cheaper high storage HDD. This way we have fast processing but still cheap and lots of storage Forum To-Do List Request Form for bugs and suggestions |

DO NOT buy SSDs unless you want a fast boot drive.
NEVER buy 2TB HDDs because they are notorious for being unreliable. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) |
