Wheel of Time
These are books.

A description I wrote earlier about them:

Quote:Wheel of Time is basically about a world that suffered an apocalypse ~3000 years ago, which has been foretold to happen again. It takes place in a time which is showing the symptoms that warn the world of the "Last Battle", in which an absurdly powerful man called the Dragon Reborn will face the antigod of the universe, the Dark One.

There are fourteen books in the series, the last one came out a few weeks ago. It is a long series, but so far it is worth it in my opinion. Apparently the middle books get a bit boring at parts, but apparently new readers of the series have that problem remedied for them. You can pick up the next book instantly, while people reading them as they came out had to wait a year or two between the books.

I'm almost on Lord of Chaos now, which is book six of the series, and I'm still reading sometimes up to 100 pages a day. Really good books, and Robert Jordan served in Vietnam as a heli-gunner, so you know the author's badassery transfered to the books. Unfortunately, he died before he could complete the series, but he left a fucktonne of notes for Brandon Sanderson to finish off the last three books, which are apparently on par with Jordan's level.

They are good, anybody who likes fantasy should read them. (I didn't like fantasy until I read WoT, so people who liked fantasy beforehand should really enjoyed them.)

RE: Wheel of Time
I own and have read books 1-11. Great series, Robert Jordan did a great job.

If you like them, you would like The saga of Recluse, a series of books by L.E. Modesitt Jr.

What's the target age group? I haven't read much the past couple of years and it would be nice to get back into it but I won't go out of my way to find a book if it's not for me.

I don't think I have read anything in the fantasy genre in maybe 5 or 6 years I usually read other stuff.

Wow that series is long. I am just going to stick with the Mazerunner series. For some reason The Wheel of Time reminds me of The Dark is Rising.

Hm Young Adult to Adult, both series are a bit heavy on conflict and are quite extensive, both in book size and series length.

They also each have very deep plots that anyone younger wouldn't get most likely. (Hypocrite here, I started reading both when I was 11 or so)

Cool I might check them out then, unfortunately it seems like there's only one copy in English on my closest and biggest library and there's a waiting list of three people before me.
I don't really want to read it in Swedish if I can avoid it it's always better to keep the source language.

Does your libraries have inter-library loans? Around here we do, if they don't you should suggest it, its a great way to spread reading.

Just finished book five. One of the best endings of any book I've ever read.
