I know your arguement is most likely based around the whole "guns are bad and kill people because they are bad" movement, but let me use a quote here if I may.

How old are 5th grade kids? 10-11? or 12? I wonder if they even understand the concept of death and what a gun and knife actually does to a person. The sad thing is that they have probably seen some shit at home, generally these things just don't come out of nowhere.

It's not crazy. It's more realistic then rehabilitation, and I meant their whole families not just the kids. These are children. To put it simply: if this family is so messed up, so chaotic that their children are attempting school shootings, they don't deserve to HAVE children, nor do they deserve to impose on and endanger the free educational system (however cheap it is). The entire family should be removed from this nation altogether in my opinion.
